About the Studio Behind This Deep Tissue Work

J Massage SLC opened in 2017 and has been in the same downtown building ever since. This site exists because one service, deep tissue, accounts for a large share of what happens on our tables, and it deserves more explanation than a menu line can carry.

We are a massage studio. That is the whole scope, and we are strict about it, because Utah massage licensure is strict about it. There are no facials here, no head spa, no reflexology, no aesthetics of any kind. When someone calls asking for those, we send them to our sister studio, Elite Spa Utah at 1136 S State Street, rather than improvising something we are not licensed to do. Being clear about the edges of your scope is not a limitation. It is the reason you can trust what is inside them.

The standards we hold are the boring, structural kind. Every therapist carries an active Utah massage therapy license from the Division of Occupational and Professional Licensing. Every therapist carries full professional liability insurance, which means you are covered, not just us. Dress code, conduct standards, and client confidentiality are enforced as employment conditions rather than as suggestions. Sheets and coverings are replaced and sanitized after every single client, without exception and without anyone having to ask.

We staff both male and female therapists. This is deliberate. Deep tissue involves sustained contact and a fair amount of trust, and a client who would rather work with one or the other should be able to say so at the point of booking and simply have it arranged. There is no premium attached and no explanation required.

What we do not publish is as important as what we do. We do not name individual therapists with credentials on marketing pages. We do not print a five star rating, because ours is 4.4 across 516 Google reviews and that is what it is. We do not invent client photographs or testimonials. If a quote appears on this site, a real person left it on Google in those words.

We also will not overstate what a massage does. Deep tissue relieves muscular tension and helps stiff tissue move better. It does not treat disease, correct structural pathology, or replace anything a physician would do. Any page here that gets close to a health question stops and tells you to ask your doctor, because that is the honest end of our expertise.

The practical shape of the business is simple. One location, 677 S 200 W Suite #C in Salt Lake City, open every day from 10am to 10pm. Free parking at the building. Deep tissue at $85, $125, and $165 for the three session lengths. A $5 fee on card payments and none on cash. Gift cards that do not expire, in any amount.
